Youth unemployment in Greater Manchester is a crucial issue. The Factory Youth Zone does a lot to help young people into further education, employment and training – with your support, so much more can be done.
What The Factory Youth Zone does for young people
The Factory aims to ensure young people touched by the charity are able to transition into adulthood with the skills and knowledge they need to lead independent, positive and healthy lives.
The Factory offers two key avenues for young people to get the help they need to gain meaningful education, employment and training.
- Greater Manchester Talent Match is a Big Lottery Fund project which brings private, public and voluntary sectors together to support 18 – 24 year olds who have been out of work, education or training for over 12 months.
- The ‘Get a Job’ course is funded by Accenture and the AO Smile Foundation. Over a period of six – eight weeks, young people take part in an accredited course which helps them to develop skills for employment. 95% of young people who took part in the course moved into education, employment or training in 2016.
Young people on the programmes really benefit from opportunities for work experience and the chance to interview for live vacancies. This is where you can make a real and long lasting effect on the life of a young person.
